Conversion goals

Conversion goals tell a Sync which events to forward. You manage them per-Sync from the Conversion goals section of the Settings tab.

Where to find them
Tracking → Syncs → click a Sync → Settings tab → Conversion goals section.

Available goals
Metrion supports five standard goals across the supported destinations (Google Ads, Meta Ads, TikTok Ads, Klaviyo):

Goal

When it fires

PageView

On every page load Metrion observes.

ItemView

When a product detail page is viewed.

AddToCart

When a product is added to the cart.

BeginCheckout

When the user starts the checkout flow.

Purchase

When an order is completed.

The exact list of goals available on a Sync depends on the destination — most support all five.

GA4 Syncs work differently: you can’t choose conversion actions (conversion goals), because all conversion actions are always synced.

Adding a goal

  1. Open the Sync’s Settings tab.

  2. Scroll to Conversion goals.

  3. Click Add conversion goal.

  4. Pick the goal from the list.

  5. Save.

Removing a goal

  1. Find the goal in the list.

  2. Click the trash icon next to it.

  3. Confirm the removal.

Removing a goal stops forwarding new events of that type. Conversions already sent to the destination remain there.

Picking the right goals

  • Purchase is essential. It’s the conversion most ad platforms optimise on.

  • AddToCart and BeginCheckout help Smart Bidding learn faster. More conversion volume → more data for the bidding algorithm. Add them unless you have a specific reason not to.

  • PageView and ItemView are usually for remarketing. Enable them when you want the destination to build audiences based on browsing behaviour. They generate large volumes — keep them off if you only care about conversions.
